Arbrux De-Icers have been proven reliable under harsh winter conditions. By suspending a de-icer under water, the unit circulates warmer, deeper water to the surface, creating an opening in the ice. Typically a 1/2HP Arbrux de-icer will clear 8 feet in diameter for every foot below the surface that the propeller is installed; so a unit placed at a 5 foot depth will generally keep a 40 foot circle of water ice-free under most conditions. Units should be installed with a minimum of one foot of clearance from the bottom of the de-icer to the lake bed for best performance.
